Enmity

 First book of the Alliance series.

What is the Alliance?

It is a conglomerate of 5 races that occupy a section of space that includes over 50 star systems. It is run by The Regent through his Nein.

In this book the first human Nein (Fiona) introduces the Alliance to the human Federation. The humans are not pleased that they are not the top of the food chain any more, that their laws mean nothing in the Alliance, and that they can't just take over the whole thing.

Humans are not the good guys in these books. Not all of them are bad, but humans didn't leave their prejudices behind when they went into space, just transferred them. If you are within a certain degree of human you are golden, but if not...well, expect to be exploited and considered third class.

It moved up one in the queue. Have 5 books to write before this one comes up. 

Unless the story jumps the line. Which could happen.

Update

 As you can see I updated and changed the blog around a bit.

If you're wandering about the multi-colored globe it's a Courier, a small fast ship that the Alliance uses for personnel transport. The Alliance does have transporters, but they are only for non-living item use. Pattern buffeting is easier with inanimate objects. No fatal 'accidents'.

Enmity is in the queue for 2025. However that is contingent on how fast I get the other books done that are in the queue before it. If I finish them quicker, then Enmity will be out sooner.

My plot bunnies keep throwing things at me and I note the ideas down in my journal. But I do write a few words in Enmity every so often when a bit flashes through my brain. 

First Book of the Alliance

 

This will be the first book.

I plan to have it out by 2025. I'm trying to get the second books of my other series out before I start on book 1 of the Alliance and the Song Saga series. 

My plot bunnies won't leave me alone long enough for me to work continuously on Enmity and Last Song. 

But they will be written.  

The first Alliance book

Enmity. Fiona introduces the Alliance to the Human sphere. The humans don't like the idea of a computer ruling an universe they want to have control of or telling them No. Humans get spanked.

That's how I explained it in a previous entry. Simple and to the point.

Humans are not the good guys in these books. They are arrogant, lie, and cheat to get their own way, and treat other races as if they are children. There are a few good ones but they are eclipsed by the bad. The Regent takes them to task and delivers a few lessons.

There's a prequel. Chances. That I'll get around to that explains how Fiona becomes Nein.

But I decided to start the series with her already Nein. Nein and the other races are explained in Pages to the right. It would be helpful if you read them before you read the book.

When I write it.

I guess this series would come under Space Opera.

I have story ideas for four books in this series so far. Only two with anything written. Enmity and Dare. These are both working titles and actual titles. I like the names but they may have to be changed.

Pen name

I decided to use T.L. Riffey as the pen name for all my new books.  To set them apart from my older works I guess you could say.

I'm leaving the prologue in for now.  I want to finish the whole thing before I change anything. It's in an earlier entry so you can read it if you want.

I still have the four books open. However I think the next book will be the supernatural mystery with Enmity as the writer's block work. That doesn't mean I won't work on the others as well.  Parts come to me all the time.

Enmity will get published in the next two years. I finally got it in my sights and I'm determined to finish it.

Prologue

I'm going to rework the prologue of Enmity. I think it's a little wordy. I don't want a repeat of Resurgent where the readers said it was slow and wordy at the beginning.

I want to capture my readers attention but not suddenly lose it by too much info and such.

I'm working my way through the first chapter. I want the humans to be arrogant but not too much so or it may seem too heavy-handed.

Humans hadn't really run into true aliens or resistance. Just the naive Mer-people who were somewhat humanoid and easily absorbed.   The Con-fed or Confederate Planets populated by humans is the only other rival government.

Until a ship chased some pirates into Alliance space.

Humans ain't the top of the food chain anymore. And that doesn't sit well with the Federation

I don't know if I want to have this pen name or the other on these books.

I decided I liked the title name for this one.
